About the Club
What does your club bring to the area that we can’t find anywhere else?
Our club aims to provide a very welcoming and supportive environment that players may not be able to find elsewhere. We want to win just as much as the next club, but at Mystic Volleyball Club winning is not everything for us. When you are a part of Mystic Volleyball Club, you gain a new family. You will not only get to know your team, but you’ll get to know every player in the club and develop a huge support system. Coach Maddy, founder of Mystic Volleyball Club, devotes great amounts of her time to working with players and attends all tournaments (even if the team she coaches isn’t playing) and practices in order to get to know and support all of the Mystic Volleyball Club athletes on every team.
What’s one thing you wish people knew about your club?
We aim to provide the most enjoyable and player-focused club experience! From low overall cost, team building activities, personalized practices, reputable coaches, community engagement, and double the average club’s number of competitive tournaments, we try to provide everything there is to offer! We are constantly gathering player and parent feedback to continue to improve our program!
What’s your club focusing on this year?
We want to prioritize our players. Our goal at Mystic Volleyball Club is to provide the best player experience there is. We will achieve this goal by gathering feedback from our players and working with them individually, while also being a welcoming and positive environment that encourages growth and support. We want volleyball to be just as fun as it is competitive. Winning is one thing, but the experience is what is truly important.
Do you anticipate any changes in the next year?
After completing our inaugural season as Mystic Volleyball Club, we are definitely anticipating some changes in our next season. First change would be overall growth! As word spreads about our program, we hope to bring in more teams and age groups to provide more athletes with the exciting experience of playing club volleyball. Another change we anticipate is more travel! With being a new club, we kept tournaments relatively close to our practice location in order to avoid any complications our first year. We would like to add on a few tournaments where we travel to nearby states this upcoming season!
What’s your coaching philosophy or methodology?
Volleyball is a mindset. We coach our athletes on mental toughness and explain that the skill will follow. We aim to encourage our athletes to be the best volleyball player they can be, and to never dwell on their mistakes. Instead celebrate successes, no matter how small they may be. A positive mindset will allow for player growth and development!
Imagine parents and players are talking about their first year at your club. What would they say?
We gathered feedback from many parents after our first season, and did not come across many negative reviews whatsoever. Our club’s parents have expressed how appreciative they are for their child’s development in volleyball and how their child loved being a part of our program. We have had parents acknowledge the devotion of our coaches and the positive experiences they had during our first season as an organization.
How many coaches return year-to-year?
This year, we will have all coaches returning from our previous year as a club!
What coach-to-athlete ratio can your players expect?
Each team will have a head coach and an assistant coach at practices and on game days!
Besides team practices, does your club offer other opportunities for players to build their skills or increase their volleyball IQ and are they included in club fees?
Additional opportunities that we have added to our club season include team-building activities and optional skill development sessions that are both included in the club fees. Outside of our club team, Mystic Volleyball Club also offers a youth volleyball league that runs year-round and is open to anyone! This opportunity would be an additional charge on top of the club fee if our club players decide to participate.
Describe your club’s practice facilities.
Mystic Volleyball Club practices out of the 422 Sportsplex in Pottstown. This location gives us the opportunity to set up multiple nets at a time and allows us space for conditioning and exercise as well.
How should players prepare for tryouts at your club?
When preparing for our tryouts, stay relaxed, be kind to yourself, work hard but do not overwork yourself, and be confident! You do not need to excel in one skill, but rather, be comfortable and familiar with each volleyball position.
